Gambling is a very popular game since pre historical times. History shows that dice are found in Egyptian pyramids. It was even documented in the bible that Roman soldiers gambled some time in their era. Types of gambling includes: betting, lottery, horse race, bingo, internet casino and casino games. People get into gambling for two reasons: money and recreations.

It has been a controversial issue since time being. The advocates from those pro-gambling groups say that this recreation is helpful in the economy. They argued that it is a harmless diversion and individual are free to spend their hard-earned money anyway they want. Legalized gambling such as casino helps in increasing the tax revenue of the state and minimizes the illegal gambling activities in the area. The collected tax in fact helps the community to generate funds for support public services such as education.

The anti-gambling groups however see these activities as root of social problems. They counter that this can be cause of ruined lives and families. That this promotes compulsive habits since it is addictive in nature.

The promise of “getting rich quick” is really enticing even if this activity is for recreation purposes only. Sometimes, even if one never gets to win the lottery it gives a certain kind of hope to some people. But as a reminder, the gambling industry is on a risky position like the gambling itself.
